My story

My background is in enterprise IT — mobile device management, networking, surveillance, and the unglamorous but critical work of managing thousands of devices across dozens of locations. That's where I learned to think in systems: how to build something that holds up not just for one office or one team, but across an entire organization operating at scale.

Day to day, that means owning the infrastructure that keeps a large multi-location organization running — the devices employees rely on, the networks those devices connect to, and the lifecycle that governs what happens when hardware is retired. It's not glamorous work, but it's the kind that teaches you to spot problems before they become expensive ones.

From managing systems to building them

That same instinct — build something that scales, plan for what happens at the edges, don't assume anything works until you've tested it — is what led me to start building businesses of my own rather than keeping that expertise contained to a single employer.

The first was Buy Back Pros, a nationwide electronics buyback business. Running it gave me a completely different vantage point on the device lifecycle: not managing hardware while it's in service, but figuring out what it's actually worth once it isn't anymore. That ground-level view of the resale and recovery side of IT is something most people managing enterprise fleets never get to see directly.

The second was Herwitz Consulting — a way to bring the same MDM, ITAD, and infrastructure expertise I use every day at work to other businesses that need it, on a project basis rather than as a full-time hire.

Outside of work

Outside of the day job and the businesses, I spend time building things with a close group of friends — web apps and projects that started as inside jokes and turned into real, shipped products. There's something I like about the same core skill — building something functional from scratch — showing up whether the audience is a Fortune 500 device fleet or a group chat.
